Week 1

August 20, 2009

Okay, here it goes, my 2nd attempt at a Sims 3 legacy.  My last legacy was on my old laptop that my boyfriend decided to put LimeWire on, and go crazy with the downloads.  So of course, it got a virus, and everything crashed.  After I beat some sense into my boyfriend with a baseball bat (not really), I got a new laptop that he is NOT allowed to use without my supervision.  :P
So here’s my new legacy.  I’ve tried to make this one have some sort of a plot, and tell it more like a story.  I’ve also decided to do updates with a weekly format, like the legacies of Magical Roots and The Featherstone Diaries (I reccomend both).

There also should be music playing right now.  It’s just a few songs by A Perfect Circle.  The music playing widget is at the bottom of the page, you can turn it off if you like.  I personally like to listen to music while I read, so I just thought you’d enjoy it too.  :3

Oh, and maybe I should tell you that I’ve never really taken the time to read the “official” Sims 3 legacy rules.  *cough*  Basically, I’ve moved a sim onto a blank lot, and built a house.  No cheats.  I don’t yet know how I’ll choose heirs, I’m considering doing a poll.  Not sure yet.  All my heirs will be female though, because I’m not allowing marriage in this legacy, but they still need to be able to carry on the family name.  My naming theme will be hippie names.  You know, like, Moon Beam, Crystal, Rowan, Viper, Star, Willow, Coyote, nature things.

Okay… here goes nothing!  :)

SUNDAY

Screenshot-3

Karma Love is a free spirit.  She believes in peace, love, and natural beauty.  She isn’t the most perfect sim in Sunset Valley, but that’s just how she likes it.  Karma finds beauty in her own imperfections, such as her many freckles, or her not-so-tiny-and-cute nose.  All Karma wants is for the world to see things how she does.  She believes that all sims deserved to be happy and free, not enslaved by a marriage contract.  Karma wants to create a legacy of liberated women.  Her biggest wish is to express herself through artwork by mastering the guitar and painting skills.

Screenshot-4

Karma is an artistic green-thumb who loves the outdoors, doesn’t eat meat, and definitely finds modern technology to be brainwashing.
“That’s right, man.  Television rots the minds of children.”
I’m sure hippies do their share of mind-rotting activities too, though.
Oh, and her favorite color is green, her favorite food is autumn salad, and her favorite music is indie.

Screenshot

Here’s the little cabin Karma lives in.  It’s nothing special, but it’s got some luxuries that most legacies don’t have right in the beginning.

Screenshot-2

Here’s the inside view.  See?  How many legacies can say they’ve got floors, wallpapers, and lights right in the beginning?  Karma also has an easel and a guitar, so she can practice reaching her lifetime wish.  She also has a little bike to get around town on.
“Cars pollute our air, man.  And without air, what do we breathe?  Water?  I don’t think so, brother!”
Sorry the picture is kind of off to the side.  My bad!

Screenshot-6

“Aw, man, I don’t want a job!”
Well, you need one!  You don’t want your little future-establishment-hating children to grow up in a slum, do you?
“I guess not.  Money is poison, but it’s a poison that’s vital to life.  It’s a sick world, man.”
Yes.  Yes it is.  At least you can get a job in the music industry, then you can inspire others through song.
“Totally.”

Screenshot-8

After getting hired as a fan for §21/hour (I wish you really could get paid that much just to be a fan of a band), she takes out her guitar and heads off to the park to play a little somthin’ somthin’ for the locals.

Screenshot-11

After a little bit of guitar strummin’, Karma decides she wants to go to the art museum, just to make sure that self-expression is alive and well in today’s society.  While there, she meets Jared Frio.  Heheh, nice facial hairs.

Screenshot-12

“Oh man…”
What is it, Karma?
“The first trait I learned about Jared is that he’s mean-spirited.  If he enjoys mankind fighting mankind, then he’s totally not the man for me.”
Oh.  I guess a free-spirit hippie chick being with a mean, leather jacket-wearing guy just wouldn’t be right.  Let’s just go back ot the park.

Screenshot-14

And so, Karma went back to the park to play more guitar.  There happens to be a neighborhood grill-a-thon going on right now, too.  Maybe one of these people is worthy enough to give Karma heiresses.

Screenshot-15

Oh hey!  It’s Leighton Sekemoto.  He’s pretty cute.  And I’m pretty sure he’s single.
“I’m totally diggin’ that sweater.  Is it hemp?  It looks like purple-dyed hemp.”

Screenshot-16

“Hey, man.  Name’s Karma Love.  You’ve got a nice sweater.  Is it hemp?”
“Actually, yeah, it is hemp… you like it?”
“I love it!”

Screenshot-17

“Say, you’re not committed or anything, are you?”
“No… I’m not married.”
“Oh, awesome, man.  Marriage is just a modern contract of slavery, you know.”
“But–but–I want to get married.  I’m family-oriented.  I’d want nothing more than to marry a lady, and keep her barefoot and pregnant!”
“Open your eyes, man.  Women aren’t just child-bearing machines.  We’re beautiful, majestic creatures, man.”
Lecture him later, Karma.  You’re getting hungry.

Screenshot-18

To Karma’s delight, she gets to eat her favorite meal for dinner.  I just love it when they get all excited over their favorite food.  ^_^

MONDAY

 Screenshot-19

Because she didn’t get to have a shower yesterday, she woke up with quite an odor.
“Ain’t nothin’ wrong with it, man.  It’s just nature’s way of telling you that it’s time to bathe.”

Screenshot-20

Ahh, much better.  :)

Screenshot-21

Today is Karma’s first day of work.  Nervous, Karma?
“No way, man.  How can I be nervous when I just smo–”
KARMA.  No references to that sort of thing.  There could be children reading.
“Sorry, man.  I’m just tryna’ tell you I’m not nervous.  Kinda hungry, though.”

Screenshot-24

Karma gets off work pretty late at night.  She spent all day working on her skills, which, by the way, is one of my favorite features in TS3.

Screenshot-25

While Karma yells in the background about something, I notice that a certain Goth is walking by.  I’ve always been interested in the Goth family, they’ve got so much history and stuff.  Go introduce yourself, Karma!

Screenshot-26

“Hey, man.  My name’s Karma Love… why so blue?”
“Gunther Goth… I’m… I’m fine.  It’s just… oh, you wouldn’t be interested.”
“Aw, man, no one deserves to be unhappy.”

Screenshot-27

“Cheer up, brother.  The sun will rise, and you’ll see just how beautiful the world is.”

Screenshot-28

“What’sa matter?”
“It feels as though I’m surrounded by darkness… my wife and I constantly argue… I don’t think she loves me anymore… my job is terrible, nobody I work with likes me… come to think of it, nobody at all likes me.  My wife chases away everyone I try to befriend, and my son spends all his time with his nose in books, I’m afraid he’ll never have any friends… I’m getting older, and I feel like my life is useless.  I might as well call up the Grim Reaper right now, and ask him to take me away.”

Screenshot-29

Karma suddenly flung her arms around Gunther.
“Don’t ever talk like that.  Every life is a gift.  Including yours.  I hope you’ll see that you have a purpose.  Everyone has a purpose.  If you’re not happy, you need to make changes so that you will be.”
He was so surprised by the sudden hug, that Gunther instinctively hugged Karma back.  Gunther got goosebumps from Karma’s warm, young hands stroking his back and his hair.
Okay, you two, time to end the hippie-dippie love-fest.  Karma’s got to get home and get to bed, she’s almost about to pass out.

TUESDAY

Screenshot-31

“Man, I’ve got the munchies!  Mmm, I bet that plumbob tastes cheesy.  I’d give anything for some cheesy potato chips, man.”

Screenshot-32

After satisfying her munchies with some bread and jam, Karma decides to paint until her carpool for work arrives.

Screenshot-33

After work, Karma decided to give Gunther Goth a call to check up on him.
“Something about him, man, it’s almost haunting.  His spirit is so weak, crying out for help.  I want to help him.”
So, Karma called up and chatted for a bit.

Screenshot-34

After talking with Gunther outside of the theatre, Karma went home and called him back.
“Hey, Gunther, it’s Karma.  Yeah, man, I was just wondering, maybe you should get out of your house for a bit.  Come hang out at my place.”
He agrees.

Screenshot-35

“Hey, Gunther, man, I’m seein’ that sleepy thought bubble, maybe you should just crash here tonight?”

Screenshot-36

“Woah, woah, woah.  You seem nice and everything, Karma, but I just don’t know you well enough.  My son would wonder where his father is.  And of course, my wife, Cornelia, she would tear me to shreds.  I’d better just go home now.  I’m sure she’s telling Mortimer all sorts of horrible things about where I am.”

Screenshot-37

“Look, Gunther.  Your wife is a total buzz-kill.  Are you her slave, or are you an individual?  Your son will love you no matter what.  In fact, your son might even look up to you for standing up for yourself!”
“Maybe you’re right, Karma.  I think I will ‘crash’ here tonight.”
Gunther actually looks somewhat happy?!  He’s not so bad looking, you know.

Screenshot-38

After staying up late, talking about their lives, Karma and Gunther hit the hay.
Don’t worry, they didn’t do anything naughty.  Gunther refused to cheat on his wife.
Gunther seems to enjoy Karma’s company.  She makes him feel alive again, more youthful in a way.

WEDNESDAY

Screenshot-39

Today it’s Karma’s day off.  It must be Gunther’s day off too, because they both slept in till around noon.
When they woke up, Karma made pancakes for breakfast.

Screenshot-40

Gunther relaxes in bed and reads a book while waiting for pancakes.  He looks pretty content with himself.

Screenshot-41

After breakfast, Gunther and Karma begin to talk.
“Gunther, you need to enjoy your life.  You have a beautiful soul, I can see it.  But your aura glows so weak.  I know you’re not happy… you need to find happiness.”

Screenshot-42

Gunther wrapped his arms around her.
“Oh, Karma…” he inhaled her scent.  It smelled like orchids by the ocean.
“I just don’t know what to do,” he whispered.

Screenshot-43

When they broke away from their long and close hug, Karma looked Gunther straight in the eye.
“Come live with me,” she said.  “You can be free here.”

Screenshot-44

Gunther looked at the floor.
“Karma,” he said softly, “I can’t just leave my wife.  We’re the Goths.  We’re supposed to be together.  We’re famous around here.  If I just left her and moved out, all sorts of bad rumors would spread.  And Cornelia, she’d hunt you down.”

Screenshot-45

“Maybe this will change your mind,” Karma said.
And she goes in for a kiss.  He accepts it.  =O

Screenshot-46

Gunther places his hand on Karma’s shoulder.
“Gunther, you have a beautiful soul.  I think I’m getting feelings for you.”
“Oh, Karma, you’re so youthful, so free, and I’m old… you don’t want to be with me.  I’m going to be an elder soon.  I’m sure I’ll be gone before you even reach your middle-ages.”

Screenshot-47

“Age is just a number, man!  A title that we put on ourselves!  It means nothing!”
“No, Karma, age is not a number.  It’s an age.  Why would you waste your time with me, when I’m just going to die soon?”

Screenshot-48

Karma grabs Gunther and pulls him closer.
“Gunther, you could die tomorrow, and I’d still be with you today.  You deserve to be happy.  I want to be the one that makes you happy.”

Screenshot-50

“Karma, you make me feel like I’ve never felt before.  If you really think it could work… I’ll leave Cornelia, and move in with you.”

Screenshot-53

And so, welcome Gunther Goth to the legacy household.  Gunther is a brave workaholic who is very charismatic, but can also be grumpy and frugal.  He’s into custom music, spaghetti, and the color black.  He’s a CEO in the Business career, making §302/hour.  His Lifetime Wish is to be a Renaissance Sim, which means to reach level 10 with 3 different skills… which is going to be a challenge, because he’s got relatively low skills.

Screenshot-54

After spending the entire day together, Karma and Gunther decide it’s time to express their feelings for each other in a more physical way.

Screenshot-56

And so they make Woohoo.
Oh my, I think I heard a lullaby.  <3

THURSDAY

Screenshot-57

The next morning, Gunther wakes up and heads off to work before Karma even thinks about getting out of bed.

Screenshot-58

When Gunther gets off work, he decides to call the local real estate agency.  He’s got quite a few simoleons in his pocket, and he wants to move his future family’s home onto a different lot.

Screenshot-59

And here is the beautiful plot of land they claim.  You gotta love that view.  I love TS3 for making the water so detailed, it’s so pretty.

Screenshot-60

Well, there you go, my attempt at building a nice house.  Even after moving to a more expensive lot, Gunther still had a nice amount of money on him, so I took it and built this.  There’s not much in it… I blew all the money on fancy windows.

Screenshot-61

La, la, la, bottom floor.

Screenshot-62

And here’s the 2nd floor.  Like I said, not much in it.  I’ve got the house’s layout down though.

Screenshot-63

And I just wanted to add this picture.  :)  That would be such a gorgeous view to wake up to every morning!

Screenshot-64

When the house is all finished, I decide to have Gunther work on his relationships with his boss and co-workers.  He’s pretty much never talked to them until now, because they all had no relationship with him.

Screenshot-65

He’s invited his boss, Iqbal Alvi, over for a little socialization.
“Mr. Goth, I’m glad you’ve finally decided to put yourself out there and get to know your co-workers and I!”
“Well, Mr. Alvi, I’ve got a new light in my life.”

Screenshot-66

Oh, look, Gunther’s new light has gotten a promotion!  Now Karma is a Roadie, making §25/hour.  Hey, not bad!

Screenshot-67

It looks like the bonus from Karma’s raise will go towards buying baby furniture, because she has discovered that she’s pregnant!

FRIDAY

Screenshot-68

Hmm, Gunther, you look morose today.
“It’s my birthday.  I’m going to be an elder with a baby.  I probably won’t live to see him or her grow up.”
Awwh, Gunther, at least you’re making my legacy interesting.  =D

Screenshot-69

Uhm, Karma, what are you doing?
“Going to the spa for a manicure while Gunther’s at work.”
Do you really think it’s safe to ride a bike when you’re pregnant?  Wouldn’t it induce labor or something?
“Silly, this is a game.  My labor is set to happen at a certain time, no matter what, man.  And since there’s no miscarriages in this game, I’m completely safe.”

Screenshot-71

Uhm, Karma listens to kid’s music and reads pregnancy books all by herself, all the time.  I swear I’m not trying to make her have multiples.  *cough*

Screenshot-72

Gunther is such a good baby daddy.  He constantly rolls up wants to give Karma massages.
“Babe, I think I heard the doorbell ring.”
“Oh, yeah, that must be one of my new friends from the office.”

Screenshot-73

After saying goodbye to his co-worker, a strange feeling creeps up his spine…
“Oh no, I forgot…”

Screenshot-74

“…today’s my birthday!”

Screenshot-75

“I’m… old…”

Screenshot-76

“GUNTHER?!  Is that you?!  Man, I must’ve smo–”
“No, Karma, it is me.  I’ve aged.  I’m an elder now.”

Screenshot-78

Gunther takes Karma’s hands in his.
“I just look different.  I’m still the same Gunther.”
“I know you are, babe.  I love you.”
“I love you too.”
:D <3

Screenshot-79

“And I love our unborn baby, Karma.  You know what?  I’m going to call up my office right now and tell them I’m retiring.  I want to stay at home and take care of our little bundle of joy.”
And so, Gunther retired.  He’ll now receive §280/day, not too shabby!

SATURDAY

Screenshot-80

See those musical notes coming out of the bed?  That’s Gunther’s cell phone.  Wow, I never knew anyone who kept their cell phone in their pajama pockets as they sleep.  Ruuuude!

Screenshot-82

Since Gunther is now retired, he has quite some time on his hands.  As soon as he’s done reading this pregnancy book, I’m going to have him work towards maxing out his charisma skill.

Screenshot-83

Karma’s FINALLY almost done with that huge painting!  Maybe I should’ve had her start with something smaller.

Screenshot-84

Yep, it was a pretty uneventful day in the Love-Goth household.

Screenshot-85

Except for that phone call that Gunther made to his ex-wife, Cornelia…
But don’t worry.  I’m not having them get back together.  Gunther just wanted to make another friend, and Cornelia was who he had the highest relationship with that wasn’t his friend yet.

Screenshot-86

That night, Karma went into labor!!  :O

Screenshot-88

As much as Karma wanted an all-natural home birth, Gunther nagged her enough to make her go to the hospital.

I’m sure you’re just dying to know… is it a boy, or a girl?  What sort of weird hippie name did she give the baby?  Will Gunther die sooner than he thinks?  Will I ever get around to having Karma plant a garden, or is her “green-thumb” trait going to go to waste?

Well, unfortunately, Karma won’t be out of the hospital until very early Sunday morning… which means this is where I leave you for now!  :)
Be sure to check in for Week 2, when the baby is brought home!
